Dover Castle & Secret Wartime Tunnels
A great place for a day's visit. The tunnels were used for military operations during the Second World War.

Walmer Castle
Another interesting castle. The Queen Mother lived here, when she was Governor of the Cinque Ports. There are also beautifully laid out gardens to explore all around the castle.

Canterbury
An easy 15 minute drive, it has a magnificent Cathedral, you can walk a City Trail and spend time shopping or eating in one of the many restaurants. Visit the Canterbury city website here for further information.

St Margaret's Bay
You can visit the bay or walk along the cliff top to the South Foreland Lighthouse (NT). You can paddle in the fascinating rock pools at low tide. Close by are the Pines Gardens and the St Margaret's museum. Visit the St Margaret's Bay Trust website here for further information.

Howletts and Port Lympne
Howletts' Wild Animal Park is located near Canterbury and Port Lympe is near Hythe. Together they house over 200 species and over 1000 animals. Visit their website here for more information.

Deal A quaint seaside town. You can visit a lifeboat station here and there is also Deal Castle (English Heritage). For more information visit the Deal website here.

Sandwich A lovely little Medieval town, a cinque port. You can take river trips from here. The British Open Golf Championship is coming to Sandwich in 2011.
